Bingo Quiz

|

Ok, bingo lovers! It is time to test how much you know about the game and whether or not you can call yourself a true fanatic. We have compiled a list of ten questions below about bingo games that relate to their history, how they are played and the different varieties out there. So switch on your brains, have a read and see how much of a bingo expert you really are. May you have as much luck as you do while you are playing!
  1. When and where was the earliest account of a bingo-like game being played?
  2. In what year was the first British occurrence of a game similar to modern-day bingo?
  3. In the US, how did bingo get its name? What was the game called before that?
  4. In Britain, the game was previously known by several names. What were they?
  5. If the number 54 is called out in a bingo hall, what is the rhyming slang associated with it?
  6. If you are playing a Blackout game of online bingo, what is your objective?
  7. What do you call a jackpot that grows as people play?
  8. In online bingo chat lingo, what does the acronym BLNG mean?
  9. If you have to mark the 2nd and 4th columns on a bingo card, what is this pattern called?
  10. What pattern do you get when combining four postage stamps on a bingo card?
Think the questions are tough?  HINT: You will find most of the answers on this blog!

Of course, we ask you not to post the answers to these questions in the comments below as we feel that everyone should be given the chance to test out their knowledge in a fair environment. Of course, we will eventually put the answers up in one of next week’s posts, so you will just have to compare bingo answers then instead.

On number 1, I think it was in Italy. The original game back then was called Le Lotto.

The answer to number 3 I think is Beano.

For number 3 It was some bloke named Lowe who introduced the game in the US. He was also responsible for changing Beano to Bingo.
